About & data

Coordinates is a free GPS coordinate converter and world time explorer by whispr.dev. The globe uses WGS 84 latitude/longitude. It converts the notation of a point, without changing its datum.

What the globe shows

Drag to turn, click a marker to select its city, or click empty globe to drop a point. The switch changes coordinate fields and geographic labels together. Meridians are 15° apart: one solar hour. They are not civil timezone borders. Dots mark reference locations for 418 named civil time zones, with London and Greenwich sharing a zone.

Time and accuracy

Clocks are calculated from your device clock using the browser’s IANA timezone rules, including daylight-saving changes. There is no network time sync. Keep your clock and browser up to date. Fractional offsets such as Kathmandu’s UTC+05:45 and the Chatham Islands’ UTC+12:45 / +13:45 are supported.

Timezone lookup for an arbitrary point is approximate, especially near borders. A named city uses its explicit civil zone. The night hemisphere and geometric sunrise/sunset line use an approximate astronomical solar position and ignore atmospheric refraction, terrain and elevation. Small islands can be absent from the low-resolution land map.
